(poetry diary 85) sigh. I told myself I wasn’t going to post a post-election-fallout-related poem today.  “I know! I’ll post that one I ran into and really liked a few months ago! It was  about a rooster!” I thought.  “That would be good!”

And then I read the poem again and it reminded me of…

No no no no no. Here is a poem about a rooster.

The Rooster King

And lo, the Rooster King, how he slums like the Lord!
And lo, the Rooster King, how he chases from these vacant lots the lesser, more
…………………domestic, cocks!
And lo, the Rooster King, how he spreads, as gasoline,
His wings, O, stained-glass butterfly!
