Daily Poems for Thursday, September 8

Kathleen Flenniken has a piece called “Our Fathers” up at Verse Daily, on how our old men “owned” and trusted Science and the Atomic Age.

The Writer’s Almanac has Wordsworth’s “My Heart Leaps Up.”

And at Poetry Daily, Gretchen Marquette has a mystical poem called “Know Me,” which begins

I was once the tree you hammered shims into
so you could climb me like a ladder.

And I was the new strawberry, larvae white and hard,
and the bleeding-heart bush dropping valentines over your acreage.
